On June 18, the "Nanhu" pipe jacking machine for the Jiaxing Expressway Loop Project constructed by China Railway Tunnel Bureau successfully launched under Nanhu Avenue, marking the start of the construction project of the world's largest rectangular pipe jacking project (width 14.82 meters × height 9.446 meters) Official excavation. Among them, the 100T+100T+50T multifunctional gantry crane manufactured by Henan Tuntong Machinery Co., Ltd. undertook the hoisting work of the "Nanhu".
Jiaxing Urban Expressway Loop Project is one of the "Top Ten Landmark Projects" of the Jiaxing Municipal Party Committee and Government to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party. It is the "one link" in the overall layout of the "One Ring and Seven Shootings" of Jiaxing's expressway network. The main line of the project adopts urban expressway standards, with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour and 6 two-way lanes (some two-way 8 lanes). The project is of great significance for expanding the urban framework, enhancing the city's energy level, improving the city's image, alleviating traffic congestion, releasing urban vitality, and promoting Jiaxing's full integration into the integrated high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta.
Jiaxing Urban Expressway Ring Line 3, constructed by China Railway Tunnel Bureau, is 2.079 kilometers long and adopts the "main tunnel + ground auxiliary road" construction method. It is the only tunnel section of the entire line. Among them, the 100.5-meter buried section of the Nanhu Avenue tunnel (the left and right lines total 201 meters) that passes through Jiaxing City’s urban trunk line was constructed using a rectangular pipe jacking machine, creating the first three-lane pipe jacking tunnel.
The "Nanhu" pipe jacking machine is 14.82 meters wide and 9.446 meters high. It is currently the largest rectangular pipe jacking machine in the world. The whole machine includes cutterhead excavation system, drive system, shield system, slag discharging system, ejection system and rear supporting system, etc. It adopts a multi-cutterhead combined excavation design with 6 front and 8 rear, shield block optimization design, The three-screw machine's slag discharge design and automatic friction reduction technology have solved the technical problems of one-time excavation and shaping, host attitude control, and soil settlement control in the construction of ultra-large-section rectangular shield tunnels.

During this period, it is necessary to accurately control settlement, ensure safe and normal traffic on the road, and reduce the impact on the surrounding environment, which is a huge challenge.
